STEAM learning combines the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and maths) with the Arts.
At The MoSAIC this means fully integrating the creativity of the arts into scientific study.
There are a lot of STEM industries craving employees with creative backgrounds and the arts also stand to benefit from cross-curricular learning.
Furthermore, there is also evidence to suggest that this inclusion of the arts into STEM can help narrow the disadvantage gap - one of The MoSAIC’s core aims. -
We offer our online resources for free but do charge schools subsidised rates for our in-person workshops.
These subsidised rates are currently largely privately funded through the sale of our founder, Gaz Lawrence’s artwork. We also aim to receive grants from education institutions, art funds and corporations.

We love a convoluted backronym here at The MoSAIC. We started wanting to evoke the branding of American art museums such as MoMA and chose the word mosaic as it represents our brand well.
In the same way that meaningless tiles can coalesce to form an image in a mosaic, different forms of knowledge can mean more when brought together in an interdisciplinary image. This is reflected in our logo which also takes inspiration from the old problem of squaring the circle.
Our full name ‘ The Museum of Science, the Arts and Interdisciplinary Collaboration’ was then chosen to fit The MoSAIC backronym and nicely reflects our core aim of showing young people how interconnected human knowledge is, even if it is a mouthful. Hence why we usually refer to ourselves as The MoSAIC UK -
No, not currently but never say never.
